Shocking Affirmation of Motherhood at the Oscars

On Sunday night, Hollywood elites gathered to lecture America on social justice and to celebrate the woke films of 2025. Throughout the evening, actor Javier Bardem foolishly exclaimed, “Free Palestine!”; comedian Jimmy Kimmel made snide comments about Melania’s documentary; and host Conan O’Brien joked that Kid Rock was hosting an alternate viewing of the Oscars – an obvious swipe at Turning Point USA’s Super Bowl show.
Amid the awards heaped on Sinners (which won Best Original Screenplay despite ripping off a Quentin Tarantino classic) and One Battle After Another (an impressive film, but a clarion call for far-Left radicalism), the night featured a shocking moment that affirmed motherhood.
No one was surprised when Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for Hamnet, a terrific film about Shakespeare cathartically creating his greatest masterpiece from his son’s tragic death. However, during her acceptance speech, Buckley addressed her family:
Fred, I love you, man. I love you. You’re the most incredible dad. You’re my best friend, and I want to have 20,000 more babies with you. I do, I do. And Isla, my little girl who is eight months, who has absolutely no idea what’s going on and is probably dreaming of milk, but this is kind of a big deal, and I love you, and I love being your mom, and I can’t wait to discover life beside you. . . . To get to know this incandescent woman and journey to understand the capacity of a mother’s love is the greatest collision of my life. It’s Mother’s Day in the UK today, so I would like to dedicate this to the beautiful chaos of a mother’s heart.
On a night marked by outright animosity toward Judeo-Christian values, hearing a woman rejoice in the greatest blessing God can bestow was shocking and moving at the same time.
It was only a few years ago that actress Michelle Williams revoltingly credited her abortion as the catalyst for her acting career.
Hollywood needs more affirmations of motherhood, as we witnessed firsthand from Jessie Buckley.
At the same time, the ACLJ is staunchly defending mothers and the unborn. Our legal team is fighting a taxpayer-funded smear campaign against pro-life centers, combating Planned Parenthood’s attempts to strip states of pro-life legislation, and continuing to file briefs to keep the abortion giant defunded.
