Planned Parenthood Set New Records for Abortions and Taxpayer Funding – While Losing Money and Abandoning Women's Health
Listen tothis article
Planned Parenthood just released its latest annual report – and once again, the numbers tell a story the abortion giant would rather keep buried.
Behind the polished slogans and glossy branding is the same ugly truth: Planned Parenthood is committing more abortions than ever, taking more taxpayer money than ever, doing less actual women’s healthcare than ever, and now, for the first time in at least the last 15 years, it lost money.
The report is titled “Care Continues,” but the data shows abortion continues.
It committed a record-setting 434,450 abortions in its latest reported year. That is 32,220 more unborn babies killed than the year before. Not only is that a shocking jump in a single year, but it’s also the highest abortion total in Planned Parenthood’s history.
Let that sink in.
Even after the fall of Roe v. Wade, even as states move to protect life, Planned Parenthood didn’t slow down. It accelerated. And you paid for it.
While killing more babies than ever before, Planned Parenthood also brought in a record high $832 million in taxpayer funding – an increase of $39.8 million in just one year. So while Planned Parenthood and its allies endlessly scream about “defunding,” the truth is the abortion giant just posted its largest taxpayer-funded haul on record.
So what are taxpayers getting for that record-high payout?
Not more real healthcare, preventive care, or cancer screenings. Quite the opposite.
Planned Parenthood’s cancer screenings and prevention services fell yet again, capping a nearly 80% drop in cancer prevention over the last 15 years. Its breast care, pap tests, well-woman exams, and preventive visits all precipitously dropped. So while Planned Parenthood was busy setting all-time highs for abortion and taxpayer funding, the services it hides behind to justify public support kept heading in the other direction.
And this is not some one-year blip. Planned Parenthood’s own data shows exactly what it has become: less and less of a health clinic, more and more of an abortion business.
Planned Parenthood still wants Americans to believe it exists to help women navigate all their choices, but its own numbers expose that lie. In this latest year, Planned Parenthood reported just 7,685 prenatal services and 3,038 adoption referrals. But as I’ve previously explained in detail, Planned Parenthood pads its prenatal number by reporting services, not clients. Using Planned Parenthood’s own past reporting, that likely means it helped only about 4,300 babies while slaughtering more than 434,000 innocent babies – that’s one baby helped for every 100 killed.
That is not “choice.” That’s a death cult.
And Planned Parenthood’s abortion obsession goes even further. On top of the record 434,450 abortions it committed in this latest year, Planned Parenthood boasts that since Dobbs, its affiliates and abortion “navigators” have helped more than 171,000 people obtain abortions – with travel, logistics, and abortion-assistance funds. In this latest year alone, it spent $3.7 million helping subsidize the abortion expenses of more than 12,200 patients. It’s not just committing abortions. It is building an entire infrastructure to make more abortions happen.
In addition to its records for abortions and taxpayer money, it is pouring resources into a nationwide legal war to expand abortion and tear down pro-life protections. It proudly proclaims more than 30 open cases in 15 states. And while Planned Parenthood wraps all of that in the language of “care,” we’ve seen exactly what that ideology looks like in court. In our Missouri case against Planned Parenthood, one of its own experts testified that infants and toddlers likely are not “conscious beings” and probably do not feel pain. That is the kind of dehumanizing extremism behind the abortion giant’s legal and political agenda.
Yet despite all of that, for the first time in at least 15 years, Planned Parenthood lost money. It ended the year $29.3 million in the red, compared with a $37.4 million surplus the year before. That is a staggering $66.7 million swing. Think about how extreme that is. Planned Parenthood killed more babies than ever before. It took more public money than ever before. It kept gutting the healthcare services it uses as political cover. And it still lost money.
Planned Parenthood can keep hiding behind euphemisms. It can keep dressing up abortion as “care.” It can keep trying to sell itself as some indispensable pillar of women’s health. But every year, its own annual report strips that mask off a little more.
The ACLJ is not just exposing Planned Parenthood’s shell games and deceptive numbers – we are fighting to stop the machine behind them. We helped win a major Supreme Court victory allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood, and we are continuing to defend Congress’ authority to cut off taxpayer funding to the abortion giant. We are also taking Planned Parenthood head-on in court to stop it from eviscerating state pro-life laws. We’re defeating the abortion giant’s lies in court, exposing abortion pill myths, and defending laws that protect life. Planned Parenthood keeps expanding abortion. We are fighting to shut off the money and stop the killing.
