MAJOR VICTORY: Planned Parenthood SURRENDERS – Drops Lawsuit Against “Big Beautiful Bill’s” Defunding of Planned Parenthood
Listen tothis article
In a stunning development, Planned Parenthood has voluntarily dismissed its lawsuit challenging the “Big Beautiful Bill’s” efforts to cut off taxpayer funding to the nation’s largest abortion provider. This represents a major victory for the sanctity of life, for the precious unborn children who deserve protection, and for the American taxpayers who have been forced to subsidize the destruction of innocent human life for far too long.
The ACLJ has been at the forefront of this fight to defend the unborn, filing critical amicus briefs in support of the federal government’s lawful authority to defund Planned Parenthood. Our briefs sought to ensure that the court understood the constitutional and statutory framework that permits the government to stop sending hundreds of millions of dollars to an organization that ends over 400,000 innocent lives each year. Every one of those lives had inherent dignity and worth, and every one deserved the chance to live.
The notice of voluntary dismissal filed today in federal court in Massachusetts confirms what we’ve argued all along: Planned Parenthood’s legal position was untenable. Rather than face defeat in court, they chose to surrender and dismiss their claims.

This dismissal comes at a crucial moment in the battle to protect the unborn. The federal government has made it clear that taxpayer dollars should never fund the taking of innocent human life, and this Administration is following through on that sacred promise. The ACLJ’s amicus briefs provided essential legal arguments rooted in the fundamental principle that every human life – from conception to natural death – deserves protection under law.
Our involvement in this case builds on decades of ACLJ advocacy to defund Planned Parenthood and defend the defenseless unborn. We have consistently argued that forcing taxpayers to subsidize the destruction of human life in the womb violates the conscience rights of millions of Americans and represents a grave moral injustice. The law was on the side of life – the side of protecting those who cannot speak for themselves.
The fact that Planned Parenthood chose to dismiss this case shows they recognized the weakness of their position. But make no mistake: This is a monumental victory for the unborn. Lives will be saved. Defunding efforts can now proceed, redirecting precious resources away from abortion and toward supporting mothers, families, and life-affirming healthcare. Each dollar denied to the abortion industry is a step toward building a true culture of life.
This win would not have been possible without the support of ACLJ members who have stood with us in the fight to protect innocent life. Your prayers, your advocacy, and your financial support enable us to file in cases like this and defend the sanctity of every human life in courtrooms across America.
This is a tremendous win, but the battle continues. We are preparing another brief in another legal challenge over defunding, brought by 22 states, and led by Governor Gavin Newsom, seeking to reinstate this abortion funding.
The legal battle for the sanctity of life never ends. Join us in this fight.
