Terrifying Jack Smith Evidence

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (OH-4) just released an EXPLOSIVE report titled “How Jack Smith and the Biden-Harris Department of Justice Disregarded the Separation of Powers to Spy on their Political Opposition.”

The Committee’s report details gag orders, the Arctic Frost scandal, and other probe tactics by Special Counsel Jack Smith to take down President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election season.

As reported by Fox News:

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is accusing former special counsel Jack Smith and the former Biden administration of trying to “sway" the 2024 election with the Department of Justice (DOJ) probe into President Donald Trump and his allies.

Jordan’s committee is releasing a new 57-page report arguing that Smith and his team “ran roughshod over key constitutional protections” and that the former Democratic White House used “the DOJ as a weapon against its political opponents.”

“The Special Counsel’s prosecutors tried to silence President Trump with unlawful gag orders, threatened defense attorneys, mishandled key documents, and broke protocol to release a massive trove of alleged evidence just weeks before the presidential election to sway public opinion,” the report said.

The House Judiciary Committee’s 57-page report alleges that prosecutors obtained phone records belonging to Members of Congress – including then-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy – without adequately informing them. It also raises questions about whether constitutional protections, including those associated with the Speech or Debate Clause, were followed.

Even more concerning, the report says some of the FBI agents involved in obtaining the records weren’t fully informed about the broader context of what they were being asked to do. That should raise some red flags when not even everyone involved understands the full purpose of the investigation.

The report also alleges that Smith’s prosecutors improperly handled documents, sought gag orders against Trump and his attorneys, and released a large volume of investigative material shortly before the 2024 election.

But one particularly striking detail, according to the Committee, is that when Smith was questioned about why the phone records of Members of Congress were obtained, he essentially said it was Trump’s fault, because he had chosen to communicate with them. Let that sink in.

Since when does a President’s decision to communicate with Members of Congress somehow eliminate the constitutional protections afforded to them as American citizens?

That’s why this isn’t simply about Trump or Jack Smith. It’s about whether the rules governing federal law enforcement are strong enough to protect elected officials regardless of their political party.

Notably, Congressman Mike Kelly (PA-16) has introduced the Congressional Records Protection Act, which would strengthen protections for congressional records and the separation of powers.

As Americans, we should want safeguards to remain in place even when the political winds shift.  The people running the FBI and Justice Department will inevitably change. Presidents will change. Political parties will change. Constitutional protections and the balance of power should not.

If constitutional protections depend on who’s in power, they aren’t really protections at all.
