President Trump’s Decision on Iran as Time Runs Out

President Donald Trump just issued a major warning to Iran following heightened military escalation. The country will “pay the price” if it doesn’t reach a peace deal with the United States.
As reported:
US President Donald Trump said the United States may begin striking Iran’s power plants and bridges due to the Islamic regime “tapping the United States along” in talks, according to an interview with Fox News’s Trey Yingst on Wednesday.
“I may keep going,” Trump told Fox. “They had a chance to sign a deal and survive.” He added that little progress has been made in negotiations between the two countries.
Later on Wednesday, Trump told reporters at the White House that the US will “hit them [Iran] hard again today.”
"We hit them hard yesterday, and we're going to hit them again hard today," said Trump. "And we’ll see what happens with the deal. We were really close to a deal, but they keep tapping us along. They keep playing us for suckers because you know what? They dealt with some very stupid Presidents.”
“It was just tap, tap, tap,” Trump said, referring to Iran dragging out negotiations. “I don’t know what they are doing.”
The President’s comments come as tensions continue to rise between the United States and Iran after an Iranian drone reportedly struck an American Apache helicopter, lodging itself inside the cockpit between the two pilots, but somehow did not explode – although it could have at any moment.
Fortunately, the heroic pilots safely put the flaming helicopter down in the sea and were eventually rescued by an unmanned Navy sea drone. President Trump called their survival “a miracle.”
It sounds like something out of an action movie, but it was very real and we are thankful that both pilots survived the harrowing ordeal. But it clearly demonstrates that Iran is not adhering to the basic tenets of a ceasefire: You don’t shoot at us; we won’t shoot at you.
Today President Trump said, “[W]e’re going to hit [Iran] hard again.” It sounds like the chance for any kind of ceasefire is now gone. I can’t help but wonder if the idea of successfully negotiating with Iran or reaching a substantive deal is now gone as well.
It’s not hard to imagine when you consider President Trump’s words carefully: “They had a chance to sign a deal and survive.” Especially when you compound this with his post on Truth Social: “They’ve taken too long to negotiate . . . now they will have to pay the price!”
This may have been the nail in the coffin for any negotiations. President Trump speaks in simple terms, and messages like that, while not specific about what happens next, make it fairly clear it’s not going to be turning the other cheek. To say it hints at escalated military strikes is putting it lightly.
We gave Iran a chance, or many chances, and they’re just not willing to cooperate. They’ve been stringing us along to stave off U.S. military strikes without actually conceding to any of our demands. It’s a dangerous game, and the buzzer may finally be sounding.
No one is a fan of war or violence, especially if it involves American boots on the ground. President Trump is genuinely concerned for the safety of our troops. We don’t believe he would just throw American soldiers into harm’s way without exhausting every other option.
But Iran has called Trump’s bluff too many times and then slapped us in the face. It’s fair to say the time for negotiating is officially over. President Trump’s response remains to be seen, but I suspect we will see it soon.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more discussion of this Iranian attack on a U.S. helicopter that could have taken the lives of two Americans, if not for the miraculous malfunction of their drone and the quick actions of the pilots and the U.S. Navy. We were also joined by U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Ric Grenell to discuss far-Left Graham Platner’s controversial primary win in Maine.
