The mainstream media is in a frenzy after President Donald Trump’s primetime address to the nation. In his speech, Trump defended his economic policies, including lower inflation, lower gas prices, increased affordability, lower taxes, and lower mortgage interest rates. He also touted the White House’s national security policies and growing military.

As reported by Fox News:

A handful of lawmakers, commentators and financial experts expressed renewed optimism about the U.S. economy heading into 2026, offering praise for President Donald Trump’s address to the nation on Wednesday.

“I would be shocked if we did not have a roaring economy by July of next year,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told “Hannity.”

He added that economic growth “is going to wash away an amazing amount of the news media’s effort to, frankly, talk badly about America.”

“Making Money” host Charles Payne echoed that confidence, predicting a “gangbuster” year ahead.

“In 2026, we expect a more constructive U.S. consumer backdrop, especially for middle-income Americans, given a pickup in real income growth aided by job growth, tax cuts, [and] fading tariff-related inflation,” he said.

Payne continued, “All of these things are in place. We are expecting a gangbuster year in 2026 — a noticeable year where almost every American will feel it, and it will feel really good. And those who are naysayers, who are doubting this, whether it’s political or you just don’t believe America can do it anymore, you’re going to see it.”

All day leading up to the speech, the speculation machine was in full gear. What would be announced? Would tariffs spike inflation? Would there be a surprise foreign policy pivot? By the time the President stepped up to the podium, expectations had been inflated far beyond reality.

And then came the surprise: an 18-minute speech. Focused. Centered almost entirely on the economy. No detours. No wandering. No hour-long monologue. And that seemed to throw the media off balance.

The facts President Trump highlighted are not particularly controversial – or at least they shouldn’t be. Inflation peaked at 9.1% under the Biden Administration and now sits around 2.7%. That’s not spin; that’s data.

One legitimate critique, however, is worth acknowledging: the continued emphasis on President Biden. While contrasting records makes sense during a first year in office, there will come a point, especially heading into the 2026 midterms, when voters will want to hear less about what was inherited and more about what has been delivered.

That’s where the so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill” becomes central. Its promises won’t be judged on press releases, but on results – things like lower mortgage rates, real wage growth, and tangible affordability gains for middle-class families. If those benefits materialize in 2026, that will matter far more than media narratives.

The address also arrived amid growing chatter about Venezuela, and the

overdue enforcement of U.S. sanctions against them – including the seizure of vessels tied to a sanctioned “ghost fleet” moving oil for Iran, China, and Venezuela. This isn’t saber-rattling; it’s national security. This is about preventing fentanyl from reaching U.S. shores, and it sends a clear message that the Caribbean is not an open playground for our adversaries. That’s not escalation – it’s deterrence.

Plus, it’s worth noting that China’s expanding port infrastructure in the region doubles as military access. And that disturbing little fact isn’t getting nearly enough attention.

Ultimately, the reaction to last night’s speech revealed more about the media than the message. The real test will be whether Americans feel economic relief over the next year – and whether policies passed today deliver results tomorrow.

We were also joined by ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow to discuss yesterday’s revelation that the FBI had doubts about the search warrant that led to the raid on Mar-a-Lago.

My dad offered his analysis of what happened and the real motivations behind it:

Well, the FBI agents who raised the concern about the lack of probable cause were correct. And the Department of Justice’s response with the expletive of “I don’t care, blank, how the optics look” also showed you the callous indifference they had, not only to the former President – who’s now again President of the United States – but also to the process itself. So I think this is not surprising. But I do really believe, at the end of the day, that there will be people held accountable. I know that’s the great frustration, but we’re seeing that already there are  oversight hearings.

We’re being very aggressive at the ACLJ in our Government Accountability Project, going after these issues. So, I’m optimistic that those responsible will be held liable. Does it take time? You bet. But I’m optimistic that at least the information’s coming out, and there’ll be action taken on it. . . .

Remember what they were trying to do here, and this is important. They were trying to disqualify President Trump from running again. So you had it in two contexts. You had all these indictments that came down, authorized by Merrick Garland, known by Joe Biden, who was President, while President Trump was running for reelection.

And at the same time, and this is equally important, they were already planning to try to get him removed from the ballots of various states, so he wouldn’t get the nomination if, in fact, which he was, the Republican nominee for President. We know that firsthand because we represented the Republican Party of Colorado at the Supreme Court of the United States on that very issue.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more analysis of last night’s speech, including more with my dad. We were also joined by U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz (FL-23) to discuss the dangerous antisemitism spreading across our own country, particularly in the wake of the attack in Australia.
