The FBI just announced that DNA evidence has been found that possibly links alleged assassin Tyler Robinson to the murder of Charlie Kirk.

As reported:

Kash Patel, the director of the FBI, has said that DNA evidence found by investigators links the man accused of killing rightwing political activist Charlie Kirk to the fatal attack despite his alleged refusal to cooperate with authorities after his arrest.

Speaking on the conservative-friendly Fox News network on Monday morning, Patel said that DNA found on a towel wrapped around the rifle believed to have been used to kill Kirk matches that of the suspect in custody, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. . . .

Patel also said that additional DNA found on a screwdriver recovered from the roof of a building on the UVU campus also has been “positively processed for the suspect in custody”.

The governor of Utah also stated that the alleged assassin is refusing to cooperate with authorities and has not given an official confession. Whether Robinson cooperates or not, the FBI and the local authorities continue to investigate and build their case.

Charlie Kirk was not just a commentator; he was a leader for a new generation of conservatives. He stood unapologetically for faith, family, and freedom – and he did so in a culture that often despises those very values. To strike him down in such a public way is an attack not only on Charlie but also on the freedoms he championed. That may be why so many people have been so affected by this terrible crime. We’ve all lost something.

And that’s why we cannot allow anyone to simply shrug and move on, or else political violence like this could easily become the new norm. We cannot allow assassination to replace debate. Free societies do not survive when people with unpopular views are silenced by the barrel of a gun. That’s the strategy of dictators and tyrants.

Fortunately, this weekend we also saw tributes to Charlie Kirk pouring in from all over the world, including unexpected sources, such as musicians and sporting events. For example, several NFL games held a moment of silence accompanied by an image of Charlie on the scoreboard, and the entire stadium seemed to take it very seriously. It’s moments like this where we are very proud of America. When we can set aside our differences and just be united, our country is at its best.

Perhaps the most powerful moment of the weekend came from Charlie’s widow, Erika Kirk, who made a heartbreaking public address from her husband’s studio on Friday evening. Through her anguish, she made it clear that her husband’s mission will continue. She assured all supporters, current and new, that Turning Point USA and Charlie Kirk’s legacy will grow even larger.

She directed a clear message to the man who killed her husband and for anyone who might celebrate him:

You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.

They should all know this: if you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea . . . what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world.

It feels like Erika Kirk’s words have truly ignited a turning point. Charlie had a legion of young people who believed in him and supported his message. And now they’re angry and hurt. But those thousands of supporters have been activated by this act.

In America we used to have disagreements without feeling like we’re in danger. The loss of this young soul shattered that illusion. We must piece it back together, right now, or we’re in danger.

It seems like this FBI is taking this crime as seriously as possible, and they are not letting it rest. We hope more evidence arises to definitively tie this suspect to the murder, and justice can begin to unfold.

Erika Kirk and all those who supported Charlie are determined that this tragedy will not silence the movement he built. That should inspire all of us. If anything, Charlie’s death ought to call forth greater courage from those who believe in the same values he lived for. If we don’t reject political violence and defend free speech for every American, we’re in serious trouble.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more discussion of the latest evidence released by the FBI. We also gave an update on a case in Maine, where we are in court battling back against attacks on pro-life speech.
