Senator Chris Murphy (CT) outrageously declared, “Iran is two to three times more powerful today than they were when this war started.” Even MS NOW host Chris Hayes pushed back, asking, “Really, you really think that?”

However, Murphy doubled down:

Well, I mean, everyone has to come to Tehran today to beg for their ships to be let out of the Gulf. Not small nations. Big nations. Right? The Chinese, the Indians – the Qataris have to show up to Iran to plead their case as to why their ships should be led through. And that’s probably going to be – how things work for the foreseeable future. And so Iran was really a regional power.

Why I say they’re two or three times more powerful today is that by putting them in a position where they could close the Strait, we have now made them a global power. Now every country has to come to Iran and cut a deal in order to let their ships go through. That’s the kind of power that Iran didn’t have or couldn’t have imagined until we put them in this position.

Let’s not forget that this isn’t Murphy’s first blunder when talking about the conflict with Iran. A few weeks ago, he made headlines by posting “awesome” in response to fake Iranian propaganda about enemy ships bypassing the U.S. blockade. He backtracked to clarify that his statement was meant to be sarcastic – after he received criticism from both sides of the political aisle.

As Fox News reported:

“It takes an insane level of Trump Derangement Syndrome to cheer for a terrorist regime that chants ‘Death to America,’” White House Spokesperson Olivia Wales told Fox News Digital.

“Chris Murphy is an America-last, radical left lunatic who stands for illegal aliens and Iranian terrorists over the American people. The only thing ‘awesome’ will be when he is out of office,” Wales added.

In ACLJ-related news, we told you on Monday how far-Left lawmakers in Virginia are scrambling to rush an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the recent Virginia Supreme Court ruling striking down the far Left’s unconstitutional attempt to alter Virginia’s congressional districts heavily in their favor.

Newly elected Attorney General Jay Jones and Virginia House Speaker Don Scott wasted no time issuing a joint motion to the state’s Supreme Court, urging it to delay issuing its mandate stopping the referendum from going forward because they want to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In other words, this effort is a Hail Mary. And the motion they filed was thrown together so quickly that it had typos throughout, including “Virginia” and “Senator” misspelled. So one has to wonder if they even fully understand the issue at stake, if they can’t even do a simple spell check.

In response, the ACLJ will file an amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court tomorrow, asking the Justices to reject the petition. We will argue that the state Supreme Court has already settled the issue, and the ruling should remain in place.

This is the correct course of action because the ruling was based on Virginia’s state constitutional law, not federal law. Thus, the appropriate way to handle it is within the state.

We will keep you updated on this latest Supreme Court battle. In the meantime, sign our petition to join us in defending election integrity.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of Senator Chris Murphy’s ridiculous statement. Also, ACLJ Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon joined the show to discuss the sobering report that the Civil Commission on October 7 Crimes by Hamas against Women and Children released just before Jerusalem Day.
