The numbers are alarming. Since President Biden took office, the number of U.S.-Mexico border detentions have soared to a 21-year monthly high of more than 178,000 in April. There is no doubt this change in the last six months is due to the Biden Administration’s wide open invitation to the world to come to America.

Even with record high numbers, Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tasked with solving this crisis, has not visited our border to see the conditions for herself. And everyone wants to know why.

In an NBC interview, Vice President Harris was asked again whether she has plans to go to the border. She responded:

I – at some point – you know – we are going to the border. We’ve been to the border. So, this whole – this whole thing about the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border.

After Vice President Harris was pressed again about not actually visiting the border, she added:

I – and I haven’t been to Europe. And I mean, I don’t understand the point that you’re making.

There isn’t a border crisis in Europe, so that line of reasoning doesn’t apply here. However, Vice President Harris did visit Guatemala to find the root causes behind migrants fleeing to our border. During this visit, Vice President Harris warned potential migrants:

As one of our priorities, we will discourage illegal migration. And I believe if you come to our border, you will be turned back . . . Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our border.

Except, the Biden Administration has not been enforcing laws. Instead, they have been rolling back laws by Executive fiat. We told you how President Biden ended the Remain in Mexico Policy, Operation Talon, construction of Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall, and is directing ICE and CBP to stop doing their jobs. All of these were policies that had brought the number of migrants surging our border down and manageable.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo commented on Vice President Harris’ remarks in Guatemala:

Those words are great. You could cut and paste some of those words from language that I would have used, or President Trump would have used. But The difference is not words, it was actions that we took. We turned the magnet off that closed our Southern border and secured it in a way that protected American sovereignty and kept the American people foremost at our border policy. She’s down in Guatemala, but we’ve got people coming in from 100+ countries all around our world. In the end, the requirement is that – we do the right things at our border – the Remain in Mexico policy, the fact that we didn’t let asylees stay here until their claim was adjudicated, and building the wall, the physical component. All of those things drove a policy that is rational. We have problems around the world – this one is a manmade crisis; this is policy driven. The Administration could stop this surge at the border in a heartbeat by simply reverting to the policies that were in place on January 20th of this year. The data supports it, and I think Americans are going to demand it.

This is not just a crisis at our border. The entry is at the border, but it is now a nationwide crisis. In a recent example, migrant children are riding in buses and flying into Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the nighttime; and no one is notifying the local government. This is how the crisis will start to spread across the entire country. The Biden Administration seems to be in denial about the seriousness of this humanitarian and national security crisis. We’ve already filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration over the inaction at the border and its refusal to comply with our Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. We won’t let them ignore this crisis any longer.
