ACLJ Files TWO FOIA Requests To Expose President Biden's Actions To Betray Israel and Appease Iran

Words matter, but actions speak louder than words. The State of Israel has long been America’s strongest ally in the Middle East. But now the Biden Administration seems committed to appeasing Israel’s enemies. We will not stand by and let it happen. The ACLJ has just taken legal action, submitting TWO Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) record demands to the Biden Administration over its unconscionable actions against the Jewish state.

Our leaders have stood in support of Israel’s interests for decades, regardless of political parties. Until President Joe Biden, that is, who seems bent on isolating and delegitimizing the Jewish state, bowing instead to the antisemitic powers around the world, and even within the halls of our own Senate and House of Representatives.

Israel is no stranger to its enemies concocting bogus stories of attacks and human rights abuses. We’ve told you before how a special Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) wanted to be granted authority to investigate and try Israeli nationals for alleged crimes committed against the Palestinians—once again, in clear violation of international law. At the same time, Palestinian terrorists have repeatedly fired deadly rockets at Israel, even striking a school. But somehow they’re the victims, at least according to this clearly antisemitic, anti-Israel ICC Prosecutor.

And we’ve told you how we’ve repeatedly defended Israel through our international affiliate, the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ), against absurd accusations once again before the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC), a body known for its anti-Israel bias.

Now we find ourselves having to take action to defend America’s longstanding ally from our own President and his team. It’s disgraceful.

Biden’s predecessor, President Donald Trump, helped facilitate historic peace deals between Israel and multiple Middle Eastern nations that, prior to then, would not recognize the Jewish state, let alone cooperate and trade with them.

But within his first month in office, we told you how President Biden quietly notified Congress of his plans to distribute $125 million in U.S. taxpayer-funded aid to the terrorist-funding Palestinian Authority (PA) to reportedly "regain their 'trust and goodwill' after the Trump-era cuts." What’s truly sick about President Biden’s actions is that we know, as does he, that the PA will use that money to fund its “pay for slay” program which incentivizes terrorists to attack and kill Israeli citizens as well as U.S. citizens.

Now the Biden Administration is offering what amounts to a bounty for the PA or any other antisemitic organization or government to drum up new charges of human rights violations against Israel. And of course, as usual, any demonstrable validity of said violations is optional at best.

According to a report by the Washington Free Beacon:

The Biden administration is offering nearly $1 million for groups to investigate alleged human rights abuses in Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, an effort that will delegitimize Israel, according to sources who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon.

The State Department's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) is soliciting nonprofit groups to apply for grant money up to $987,654 to "strengthen accountability and human rights in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza," according to a grant notice first posted online in mid-February.

We just submitted a new FOIA request to the U.S. Department of State asking for all records pertaining to this program, and how the decision to incentivise Israel’s accusers was made, going as far back as January 20, 2021 – the date of President Biden’s inauguration. After all, it appears this Administration had Israel in its political crosshairs from Day One.

Of course the question is why? Why would President Biden be so intent on attacking and destabilizing Israel? One answer, and perhaps the most obvious, is to appease Iran, the number one state sponsor of terrorism in the world, which paints the words “Israel must be destroyed” on the sides of its ballistic missiles.

President Biden has been actively trying to bring Iran back to the negotiating table to work out another terrible nuclear deal, after President Trump rightfully pulled the United States out of the flawed deal orchestrated by Sen. John Kerry and President Obama in 2015. And now in what looks to be another attempt to mollify Iran, the Biden State Department is reportedly considering removing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from the Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) list. The IRGC is Iran’s violent elite military outfit which just launched an attack against Israel and has threatened more violence. Last Christmas Eve, it launched 16 ballistic missiles, reportedly meant as “a warning to archenemy Israel.” The IRGC is a terrorist organization and should absolutely be kept on that list and treated as such.

We just filed another new FOIA request to the Office of Information Programs and Services (IPS) of the U.S. State Department requesting all records pertaining to the U.S. Department of State's knowledge and efforts concerning removing the IRGC from the terror list.

It would be hard to imagine a time when the policy of a sitting U.S. President would be to proactively appease a terrorist organization or a government that funds terror, intimidation, and antisemitism – especially if the end-goal is another foolish agreement that would give Iran everything it wants, including the ability to develop nuclear weapons that it will likely use against Israel, and give the United States nothing of value in return.

We will continue to pursue the truth from the Biden Administration. If, as with many of our FOIA requests, the President’s team refuses to cooperate, we will file lawsuits in federal court and ask a judge to make them follow the law and produce the records. The American people deserve the truth. National security and the security of our ally Israel should be more important to a sitting U.S. President than appeasing terrorists.
